MCD Emergency Communications Telecommunicator (ECT) Full-time
The Municipal Consolidated Dispatch (MCD) center located in Harwood Heights serving the Villages of Harwood Heights, Norridge, Schiller Park, and Norwood Park Fire Protection District is currently seeking qualified dynamic people for the position of full-time Emergency Communications Telecommunicator (ECT). Current Starting Salary (No Experience): $25.75/hr. – Completion of Training $26.27/hr.
Based on Experience Range: $28.64/hr. up to $30.95/hr.
(Anticipated wage adjustments after May 1, 2025)
Benefits include: 192 hours of accrued paid time off annually; extended sick leave days, accrued monthly; 10 paid holidays; $50K employer paid life insurance policy; Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension & optional voluntary additional contributions; 8-hour shifts, (must be able to work up to 12-16 hours as needed, no restrictions); and medical, dental, and vision insurance. (Stipend for bilingual Polish and Spanish speaking employees.)

Lateral Police Officer - Full-time
The Village of Harwood Heights Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Lateral Police Officer.
The Village of Harwood Heights Police Department is a full-service agency. The Department is a member agency of the Major Crimes Assistance Team (MCAT), Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) and Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) which consists of mutual aid access, emergency service team officers, and mobile field force officers. The Harwood Heights Police Department is heavily involved in training so officers can reach their full potential within the agency. They have committed much of their staff to these partnerships because they are professional organizations that can assist them greatly in major incidents and investigations.

Salary
Officers who have completed two years of prior service as an officer will start at $90,570.
Officers who have completed between two and three years of prior service will start at $97,354.
Officers who have completed three or more years of prior service will start at $103,719.
Terms, benefits, and other conditions of employment for Harwood Heights Police Officers are governed by Village policies and the current CBA.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Currently is or within the past one year from the time of application has been a sworn officer in good standing in an Illinois law enforcement agency.
- Possess a State of Illinois Law Enforcement Officer certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
- Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Harwood Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village.
- Possesses an associate’s degree or 60 semester hours of credit from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education; or has served in, and received an Honorable Discharge from a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States; and
- Taken and passed such examinations as the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Harwood Heights deem necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer.
- Meet all State and Federal eligibility requirements to be a law enforcement officer.
- Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and under the age of forty (40) at the time of placement on the eligibility list for lateral hiring.
- Possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Have the ability to pass the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) Test.
