The month of April was Distracted Driving Awareness Month.  The Harwood Heights Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to remind motorists to “Drop It and Drive.”  Using a phone in anything other than hands free mode is dangerous and illegal in Illinois.  Per Chief John DeVries, “Distracted Driving Awareness Month allowed the Harwood Heights Police Department to bring a heightened awareness to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior.”  The Harwood Heights Police Department issued 152 hands-free law violations during the April distracted driving enforcement period.  Click here to see their Distracted Driving Enforcement Results.       Drop It and Drive Flyer
