My family moved to Harwood Heights in 1960. I graduated from St. Eugene Grammar School and then from Good Counsel High School .  I earned an Associate Arts degree from Felician College while I lived and studied in the novitiate for three years in the Order of the Felician Sisters.  I maintain my spiritual connection as a parishioner at St Eugene’s Church and as a donor to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  

I later took a different path in life and began a business career with one of the top five insurance corporations in the where I was employed for 30 years.  With hard work and dedication to the corporation, I served as Assistant Treasurer and later became an Assistant Vice President in Marketing Sales.  My responsibilities included budgetary planning, setting annual sales projections, monitoring monthly sales results and tracking expenses as well as the training and supervision of administrative staff.  Although my career took me to many places, Harwood Heights was my home and the focus of family.  

In 2005, I served as Deputy Clerk under the direction of the late Clerk Dianne Larson. As her Deputy, I prepared meeting minutes, processed Freedom of Information requests and maintained Village records. I later assumed her duties as Village Clerk and continued those of the Deputy Clerk. I continued my municipal education by completing classes/seminars sponsored by the Clerks’ Association of Illinois and the Illinois Municipal League.   Prior to my service as Deputy Clerk I was a member and secretary of the Harwood Heights Cable Commission for three years.  

Through my experience in the business sector, I believe one must put forth hard work with integrity to achieve success and we must have the courage to face challenging times.
