
Arlene Jezierny, 48, has been a resident in Harwood Heights since 1960. Arlene attended St. James Catholic Elementary School and then Madonna High School graduating in 1971. She also attended Triton and Wright Jr. Colleges and continued her education in life insurance-related courses during her employment earning her industry degrees.
Arlene was employed as an Associate Director in marketing with a major life insurance company for over 27 years until the office relocated. Her responsibilities included marketing promotions, motivational programs and managing a large staff of employees. Arlene is now self-employed but continues her work with the same company as an independent contractor serving as the company's convention and meeting planner coordinating logistics and working within a set budget.
As a long time resident of Harwood Heights, Arlene became involved with the community in April of 1985 when she was appointed as a member to the Zoning Board of Appeals and in 1988, was appointed as Chairperson. After serving 14 years on the Zoning Board, Arlene was appointed as Village Trustee in 1999 filling a vacancy on the Board.
Arlene was elected in 1988 as an Alternate Presidential delegate in the 14th Congressional District and also volunteered in numerous local and state campaigns. Arlene was responsible for the creation of the Harwood Heights calendar from 1986 to 1998 and assisted in Village festivities and annual events. She also volunteered to serve on a special committee; taking the initial steps in revising the Village ordinance from its very outdated existence, to align with the growth and needs of the community.
